I am wanting to entertain a landlord approach to fulfill a need of providing homes to the growing senior population in slightly rural areas without running the day to day operations of providing assisted living if needed.

Get a daycare in the building (would likely need a fenced in outdoor play area to meet code) to attract companies who employ young people with kids.Good luck and keep us posted.

It's great for families, near Lake Tahoe and tons of BLM land for outdoor adventures. 

Industrial outdoor storage is great as well, again, if you can find a lot that pencils.

A jacuzzi that fits 7 people and lovely outdoor seating for all guests.

Deductibles are high, premiums are high and the state seems to be chopped up into portions so one company can underwrite in one area but not another.There's deductions (think of them as add ons) for all sorts of construction related issues. ie, rafter ties and strapping, storm proof windows and doors and so forth.There's lots of building codes that are specific to Florida which increases costs of many things such as HVAC (outdoor units need to be strapped down to concrete slabs, etc)Essentially, if you want property in Florida, go ahead but expect to bend over for the insurance companies.
