That, coupled with a new (government mandated) housing development in our village, means only one house within a two mile radius of ours has sold this year.As such, I'm now facing a dearth of viewings and one, very low-ball bid... not what I'd planned.Driving back from a client meeting (I run a small IT service company), I decided that, regardless of what I'd "wanted" out of the house, I would set a finite price that I would call success.

I do the same when i get a mortgage I set it up auto pay and usually round up to the next thousand and pay at least 500 a month extra.. this saved my bacon in 2010 after being hammered so badly in the GFC..

I would recommend you have a rain day fund prior to starting with at least 3-6 months of cash saved.In addition, have little to no credit card debt or auto loans.

It's in middle village so it's a in a great location with pretty stable market rents and demand, but probably won't appreciate as much as other up and coming neighborhoods.

Account Closed  the other issue here is Portlandia has all this high density no parking zoning along public transportation routes.. now a lot of it has been built since the crash.. but little will be built now and there ya go grand design to cram everyone into living with no cars is not going to work since developers are not going to build out these areas. its funny Porltandia lead the nation in getting things going when they gave the 10 year tax breaks in the Pearl and other areas of the city to stimulate growth and it did big time.now they are going backwardsMaybe Carls  container homes will be the answer  :)  container villages.
