Make sure that you look at the booking and details on what the person signed.

To OP: My personal research has shown little with regards to value beyond time.

However, I do manage for foreign investors and I (the PM) file all of their state and local taxes for them. 

Basically investing a person that buys a property that will hopefully reap returns.
