Like the last poster said, you will find yourself being the peacemaker and it will drive you crazy/eat up your time.

I merely pointed out that following your advice, others would eat into his money. 

Not familiar with the market but it sounds like he overpaid, which isn't your problem, but at the end of the day you can't force the seller to eat a loss like that.
