If you had engaged them either earlier (as in, during your thought process of entertaining this type of decision/purchase and/or during the shopping process) they may have felt like you engaged them at a time where if they DID have something to offer, they may have been able to do it.  

Laying floating laminate plank flooring isn't difficult at all, and requires much less general technical skill than you've already shown through prep work.

We haven't been successful in doing that, though - and keeping the resources engaged throughout the duration of the project.  

On the flip side, I'm replacing all the carpet w/ vinyl plank flooring for $2500 that, hopefully, I won't have to touch for 30 plus years.

Charging the rent you initially set rather than engaging in false advertising would be the fair option.

Looking at some type of click lock vinyl flooring but I need a type of stone pattern in the entryway and kitchen as these areas are perpendicular and wood plank would look weird.

I have no experience to speak of in PM, though I do manage 70-90 employees and engage with guests all day.
