They have all sorts of reasons why they keep or sell assets like this which may or may not make sense to the individual investor looking at one particular asset.

However I will pursue the deal that makes the most sense and wanted to confirm I am on the right track in regards to my understanding of tax write offs.

I think if the numbers still make sense with those terms, then you can proceed.

Amortize the loan for 5-10 years, whatever makes most sense for you in terms of selling.
