I have personally found that Real-Estate backed Private Notes / Loans are the most secure way to invest your funds for any duration you so choose, at an interest rate WAY better than the banks, or bonds, with monthly "dividends" and still secured by an actual physical asset!

Just be sure if you invest here that you are set up properly for an entity and US bank account as an international.I can't really tell you how to look for cash flow and vacancies in India... you'd have to ask around people there to see if there are any places.
