There are credit aspects, financial aspects, social aspects and the ability to guide buyers through personal finance matters, employment issues and address life experiences to improve the circumstances.

I'd look for cities with the following:1) High Wages2) Growing Population3) High Tech Employers 4) AND... drum roll.... moderatly affordable homes.  

I'm also about to leave my 9 to 5 career and am considering rolling over my employer managed pension fund to a self directed 401K with checkbook control so that I may grow the fund by investing beyond ETFs (namely real estate).

@Michael HammondYou are mis-understanding the linkages here.A Solo 401k is a retirement plan that requires you have some form of self employment to sponsor the plan.  

But, I have part time income from a job that I have been at for 1 year, because I was in school getting a degree that lead directly to my employment.

However, I can find no information on the salary structure.I am currently employed and plan to maintain my employment.  

Because of previous goals and ambitions my experience thus far consists of employment in the architecture industry and a construction/business management education.

The employer helps his employee find housing and even helps him pay his rent for awhile.
