I wish I had listened to him, but in 1999 I wasn't in the right mindset (was just starting an Internet marketing company at the end of 1999 right before the Dotcom crash happened in 2000). 

There are areas of the country that didn't crash with the 2008 housing crash. 

This was 08 09  crash.. he was in Bend Oregon that got hammered..

The market was flooded during the crash with repo+ss units.

Yes, I am still leading and running my group, and even did a YouTube live townhall 2 nights ago with an 8 panel group discussing the housing market and our views about a crash.

I think it is no different at all....it will be coming down crashing again.

But, I've always had real estate in the back of my mind knowing that it would someday lead to greater things in life that a 9 to 5 job just won't provide.I became a licensed RE agent a number of years ago which didn't get me very far when the markets crashed and there was an abundance of full-time agents trying to sell properties that didn't move.

The housing marking can crash as well.

, then a local triplex 2 years later (so exciting but so scary to have tenants), then a fourplex in another state the following year (crash course in learning to vet PMs), then another fourplex last year next door to the other fourplex we already owned (always nice to have more control over neighboring properties - and their tenants).

When the market crashed we were hit HARD.
