I go thru the same thing with room-mates.That is, if the sub-lessee skips out or ruins the place, the original lessee is also responsible.

But…you’re paying $100k in discounted funds, so if the property is really worth $1million you better owe waaay more than that $100k you just gave away in taxes, otherwise skip the 1031 and keep the million in proceeds spread over several tax years.
