They can add $500 more this year, but have not earned that yet.For a family owned business, they do not need to pay SS or Medicare, unemployment insurance, etc.

This immediately frustrated me because they gave my unemployed sister who doesn’t own any property a $30,000 student loan, but denied me although I make 6 figures with both jobs and own two homes with almost $100,000 equity combined.

My feeling is the features, finishes, and quality of these units would attract desirable, long-term tenants and a good builder should mitigate ownership headaches as well as avoiding your typical "old-house" problems like lead paint, asbestos, horsehair plaster walls, etc.One thing I'm not seeing is a deviation in the system for these.

Probably the most appealing feature was the ability to amortize over 25 years instead of 20, allowing you to hit debt service coverage ratios with a higher principal amount, essentially turning a no-deal into a deal.
