You can always tell the older homes by the diamond pattern in the concrete blocks from 1910-1930.2.Gas forced air heat Gas is common here, but some houses have baseboard heat or a few have radiant.

I could then store the old ones in my garage until after the law goes in and then sell them for top dollar on CL.I'm telling ya- grandma's house is in Michigan - the 90% efficient furnace we put in her place was about $1k, we also put in central air (about $1k), and that included new copper lines for the a/c, the pvc for the vent and a new sheet metal plenum.

We've since moved to Athens, about 30 miles away, into another house that we paid cash for and I'm going to be forced to rent the first one out b/c I don't want to sell it for a loss.Now, since I found biggerpockets, I've become intrigued in RE investing and am understanding a lot of things I've never contemplated before...ie. being a landlord is OK and maybe I shouldn't of bought the houses outright...Anyway, the old hindsight's 20-20 deal...A little about my wife and me: I'm a meter reader for a natural gas company and I'm also in the Air Force reserve, and she's an elementary music teacher.

Skype burned me in the early years and soured me, nothing big, just like 10 bucks worth of air credits, it was in their early years and they had some fine print that if you didnt use your time within so many months it went from being airtime to credits for add ons....not sure what that was all about but dont care for being nickeled and dimed so never went back.

A house can be sealed tight as long as it has a good mechanical ventilization system to keep air movement for the people living inside.
