The next REIA is tomorrow night, Sept 20, at Ingersoll Tap in Des Moines, from 6-8 pm.

I'm sure other plumbers will also tell me it's a big costly problem (I'm getting bids tomorrow), so my problem is not specifically with him giving me a high quote, it's the fact that I have a house with a lot more repairs on my hands than what I was led to believe and I think the plumber who did the inspection and overpromised should have to pay for his time, not me.Does anyone have any advice on what course of action I should take?

During the inspection we did not find signs of water leakage but I will be able to see more when I remove the wood tomorrow, so am not ruling that possibility out completely.  

There is actually one tomorrow at Bellevue college if you can swing it on such short notice.   

So just keep in mind the HELOC rate today may not be the rate tomorrow.

But if you charge money to show up, they'll say "the guy has to nerve to charge just to show up".That's why when my tenant calls about a leak under the sink, I call my plumber, he says I'll take care of it tomorrow morning at 8:00am and it'll be around $100.

So if you aren't in a position to buy a property tomorrow, still stick around bigger pockets and learn all that you can.
