No, not places you heard people want to live, or were told, or think, no-no-no, where you KNOW people want to live. 

In fact, come to the USA and live off of those of us who pay taxes.  

House care, lawn care, condition of cars, street conditions, absence of pay-day loan shops... basically all the things you look for when determining where to live yourself.

Even if buying a property Subto in GA and you live in FL, you could miss something and the whole deal does a "crash and burn".

I live in Sacramento, and have noticed that people are offering either equal or above asking price even for homes that sometimes need 80-100k in repairs and I can't see how they would even make a profit doing that.

Without know more specifics, I'd suggest selling what you have now and investing in properties closer to where you live (and pursue 1031 exchanges).
