If it's within driving distance of a large metro then you won't see too much of a hit.If it's an activity like skiing that also requires a $600/yr ski pass + gear rental you'll probably see a bigger downturn than if it's an area people go backpacking/camping for nearly no $$.

The third i use as a visual map for my driving for dollars to classify properties roughly into ABCD catagories all of which can be done relatively quickly from a laptop. using beacon.gis and google earth. hope this helps i haven't come up with a better way yet but if i do ill let you know.

@Ned Carey  cant see how anyone can do a 7 day course for free.. ( from the course providers stand point).as I have mentioned I thought I would give this a go and went down to MS with a few hundred K to buy liens it was a mad house.. the big boys in the back of the room with their lap tops flying buying most everything.I squeezed off 10k worth and the quite as I knew I was just throwing darts..
