That can be done in a myriad of ways.If you are starting from a blank slate, you will be surprised how much it will set you back getting it right.We started from scratch with a 4/3 lake house.

Even west of I-10 into Woodlawn Lake, balcones heights and Los Angeles Heights are nice neighborhoods.West San Antonio is more C class with moderate crime.

Crater Lakes and the Oregon coast both within a days drive, and all the Californians are taking over Oregon driving prices up ;)

My husband and I are looking to buy our first house hack in Salt Lake to reduce our living expenses and get into the real estate game.

They are mostly in Osceoloa county, some in Polk and Lake. 

Biggest difference from CA are much more favorable landlord laws, taxes do NOT reassess on the sale, and still high appreciation due to land constraints, proximity to Lake Tahoe, tech and manufacturing job growth, Tesla continuing to expand, etc. 

I'm of course bias, but I chose Reno because of it's proximity to CA, no state income tax, stable job growth, population growth, land constraints (constricted supply), proximity to Lake Tahoe, etc. 

He's willing to lower the price to 5.5m, but that's still too high for my blood.There's no fly fishing where I live but there's a fairly large lake for bass or catfish fishing.
