not surprised. the govt can't live high off the hog forever. programs (& employees) are being axed left & right due to their fiscal irresponsibility. you're in detroit area which has gotten hammered even more so the less in housing values, the less in property taxes to fund these things.if the govt was in the private sector, they'd be bankrupt in days.

Unfortunately, unless he is willing to cash it out (pay taxes and penalties), there is no good way for your father to lend you money from his retirement funds.And I doubt it would make fiscal sense for him to pay taxes and penalties on the money just to make 10% interest on it by loaning it to you.

Anyone who believes that isn't aware of how agencies work and how many firewalls there are between such agencies and political influence, in fact, it is illegal to attempt to influence any agency official in the performance of duties....guess most here can't remember Nixon.The rate dropped THREE TENTHS OF ONE PERCENT which happens often and SIX TENTHS OF ONE PERCENT IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS, which AVERAGES TWO TENTHS OF ONE PERCENT.

That's what even CPAs debate.The answer to this question then influences my main concern: mileage deduction.If I have to drive to a rental for some maintenance (no other stops to keep it simple), can I deduct the mileage, if I have an office in my home, but not an "IRS type qualifying home office", that I actually use for business purposes?
