From what you describe, you've had a hit to income (divorce, one of the four big causes of foreclosure, along with job loss, death, and medical problems.)

And sadly you have to be the teacher...Or what if they had to be hospitalized and now own $13k in medical bills?

And ironically she is in her final year of medical school so we feel comfortable banking on her being employed.  

This topic became a landmine when conditions such as anxiety and behaviors such as hoarding became medically defined as disabilities.  

Having worked in the medical field before recently retiring I have to say these personal care homes are increasing in number as "baby boomers" are aging and are having to address options besides actual nursing homes.  

Someone might have emergency medical problems and get back to work, but we can't ask about medical conditions because of HIPPA and other discrimination laws.

We are the biggest medical hub between DFW and Phoenix so you could easily get an RN job.

Houston has the largest medical center in the world (listen, the entire world!)

@Thomas Rutkowski We spoke probably a year ago when I was looking for options for my friend and his medical malpractice settlement.

I think that rent range is about right, you probably would need to do some minor aesthetic work first, mostly just paint, maybe new appliances, new outlets/light switches, etc. 27106 is generally a good zip code. 27103 is the center of the bullseye - most desirable neighborhood in town that isn't a luxury neighborhood - draws primarily medical professionals (also where I live) Most places Northwest/West/Southwest of Winston proper are solid.
