Numerous DSTs are now curtailing distributions, and I don’t think they are even allowed to make capital calls, unless they blow up the DST structure and turn it into a taxable (and very unattractive) syndication.So I think carefully considering market cycles is still a necessary analysis, even though it’s always a guess or speculation on the investors side.

Well this company has been around for 10+ years which a is a good sign and they are willing to take care of maintenance of the property but I am not getting anything extra in terms of higher monthly rent then what I was originally asking for normal tenants. 

When you listen to podcasts or read books or anything else regarding advice on 'buying below market' this is partly what they are referring to...

@Oli CimetI would be careful about house hacking in Oakland and if you're looking at $550k for a SFH in Oakland, it's probably not going to be the safest neighborhood.

I've read on some threads that this isn't necessary, and others say you do, so I'm really stuck on what to do.

Also if you are not careful in his group you may shave your head and spend your days at the airport handing out flowers.
