On the other hand, if you don't have an identified use for the money but want it "just in case" (like for big repairs or something that might come up unexpectedly), then a HELOC may be the best option because it's just a line of credit that will be there when you need it but you don't have to pay interest when you're not using it.

I was told by an insurance friend that once I do that, my vehicle becomes commercial and if I didnt disclose to insurance company and became involved in an accident, there could be some problems paying out a claim, etc.Thoughts?
