I've also offered to carry the balance that remains for the seller if he signs his vehicle's title over to me (he has an old 1985 truck, not worth much but my thought is it gives him some incentive to repay me).  

@Virginia ReasorIt also depends on whether or not your employer is providing you a match on your retirement contributions.Furthermore - it also depends on what your goals/strategies are.If you have  good employer match - you may want to contribute up-to the match.If your goals are to continue to invest in real estate - you may want to look into putting more of the money in a roth vehicle.

😀At the end of the day, real estate is a long term investment vehicle and needs tis be approached and evaluated in that framework.

A good indicator is signage, both on vehicles and jobsite, signage plus a website usually means they have systems they may be willing to share with enough lunches and trade-offs (coffee or drinks).

Has anyone on here ever had to deal with removing an abandoned vehicle?

If they tell you that you need a new motor, and show you the data breakdown of when each piston fully compresses and the PSI, will you know how to interpret that data or will simply feel more justified in replacing your motor for $8k? 

For the lower rated tranches of these vehicles, the value may be nearly zero.
