the first letter from landlord was that we are liable for $90 ($500 - repair costs that amounts to $590) I realized my deposit is $800 not $500 and wrote a letter to landlord stating that the repair cost needed was in part because of deferred maintenance (told manager to repair these items but he failed to do so) Then landlord came back with a 2nd letter stating Im Now liable for $$695 ($800 - repair cost with other cost added on that amounts $1495).

If this is on a private well and septic systems,,,what is you local state regs on those.I used to have one for 30 years till the regs changed and closed me down for non-compliance with new regs.Wouldnt let me touch septic tanks or leach fields,,,eventually they will fail.
