I personally own several in this great neighborhood and have no issues getting and keeping tenants.As a rule of thumb - $800 for a 3/1 with a garage and $750 without a garage.Investor owned - don't forget the hedge funds own nearly entire "Pretty House" neighborhoods [vinyl villages] and people still rent and buy in them...

I don't know how it would work for someone who does not currently have home or auto insurance, but I can give you a list of companies I contacted who do offer landlord insurance here in NY if you're looking in NY.
