I will be stepping away from that role to a part time role this summer.

Of course, the quality of the tenant pool for your property will play a major role in any decision.  

Personally, I felt like my role as an agent was limited.

Too many other factors played roles in the last recession not even mentioned here.

You would also need to negotiate the other terms of the purchase, etc but the tenant would now have a contract to purchase you property and could exercise that right. 

It is a major scam and I suspect we will see improved regulation in the next few years.The way to protect yourself is to know the law better than the renter and exercise your right to verify.
