Out your way I suspect its a tad more complicated with certain city and municipal liens not being removed at sale.VERY high risk but can be HIGH reward.. although universally everyone I talked to around the country says that the sales are so highly competitive that many times newbies bid stuff up over market value.. so be ware.

If I was in that position now I'd pay off the primary mortgage on my house 1st since the standard deduction everyone gets is more than my primary mortgage interest plus charitable contributions, etc.The interest on then rentals would still be deductible as a business expense for me.YMMV though.
