Interesting that they had to go through your yard to get to the home behind-why not access the street from the front of that home.  

2 years later I bought my first home in Jersey City- a 2 bed 2 bath condo.

I will respectfully disagree with the other poster regarding STRs in that area.There’s a woman with a place on Birch street one block south of 90th and she is doing extremely well with STRs there.

The focus of my learning over the past 6 months has been strictly on buy and hold rental properties and those that need a little bit of TLC to increase the value.A house just popped up on the market down the street from my first property.

The condo was the Azure on Talbot Street.

This condo is approx 1000 sq ft, 3 bed 2 bath, and we plan to keep as a short term vacation rental.

The extension has its own front door, garage, kitchen, bedrooms and bath however it does not have its own address.

So we are looking to turn the half bath on the second floor of our house into a full bath, so we can turn that into a separate unit and house hack.

I would plan the addition to be "recessed" from the face of the building so the street appeal of the building would not be altered.
