The plan would have reclassified Colorado short-term rentals as commercial properties, thus going from the 6.8% residential rate to the 29% commercial rate. 

I would try to address it as amicably as possible before doing anything that might turn into a war. both of you can always build a higher fence and mount the cameras on a higher pole. have a conversation with him about your Airbnb, is he doing this simply for security, or does he have an issue with you renting your place out short term?

I'd expect rates in the low to mid-teens depending on LTV and credit.

I had a conversation with them about it and repairs/maintenance are typically when someone is living in the unit and one (1) issue needs to be addressed.

You must start the conversation from your end, because we are prohibited from contacting you first, by Bigger Pockets rules.

If you are comfortable with those numbers and you can wait it out until interest rates improve then go for it.You could also consider putting down a larger downpayment.

Use them as a guide and let the conversation flow naturally and you stand a better chance of striking up a conversation that can at least lead to a more in-depth discussion. 

Can we do this while maintaining the same loan, so our rates don’t go up?

They have various rates to choose from but I am still looking for a bank with better options.
