I am always shocked at how helpless some people are at anything mechanical.

A consultation with a real estate attorney in the area is absolutely the best course of action, I thought I would do a little preliminary research first to try and determine what our options are.If the loan was in my partner's name, would the bank allow myself and the other partners to be on title as well to protect our financial interest?  

Ask the lender for a preliminary breakdown of closing costs.

The market there has really taken off in the last two years, almost to a shocking degree.Good luck.Marcus

By the way, I recently purchased a 1% property in San Diego   The most shocking part was it was turnkey.  

@Rob Hilton There are two preliminaries to running a STR in Kona (or anywhere on the Big Island).  

Knowing how to submit the preliminary CD correctly is a crucial part as well.
