Be caring, but firm, and always keep a line between landlord and friendship.

I have seen it ruin friendships and cause hardships in the family.  

About a year and a half ago I started looking for rentals - I read books on buying properties long distance, and developed a great friendship with an Aussie BP member, who's based in NY (my husband is also Australian), all because our plan WAS to buy a bunch more rentals and use the income for our retirement.

I’ve had to force the sale of property in a partnership through the court system and it’s time consuming and eats away at your profit and can ruin friendships and/or family relationships besides creating a lot of stress.

I expect we’ll have some killer wins and devastating losses and I want to make sure our friendship stays in tact through it all.

It's been a great way for me to get out and start creating friendships/partnerships in the field.

You should put the friendship aside.

Really just want to build my network and grow some friendships with some more experienced individuals to help build my portfolio.
