I would ultimately like to have this property management outsourced so I am planning for that scenario down the road.

But if we were to buy where I want to end up on long island, and save up for another multi family down the road, would that hinder my goal to buy a multi family?

I bike commute all the time to work and it is really a great way to start and end the day, especially if most of the ride is not on public roads. 

The plan is to live in it, flip it, try to house hack it with Air BnB then sell it with a hopeful profit months to a couple years down the road.

It seems you are trying to buy a property with little upside and count on appreciation, split the potential cash flow, and pay back your family member through a re-fi down the road.

Hi BP, I just signed a contract to buy 1.7ac on a main "artery" (I wouldn't consider it quite a highway) road.
