An Irish couple in their 60s investing just to take nice vacations and earn an extra $3K/mo.Point is, the 50-100 goal is certainly achievable from where you're starting, but you'll need to be aggressive depending on your timeline to reach that many units if you go one by one.I highly suggest one by one instead of buying an existing portfolio unless you can really learn all about the portfolio and avoid overpaying for it.

Given that I'm looking to buy a home to live in anyway, and the mortgage on a single family home (or a condo with HOA fees) seems only just barely in reach and unnecessarily expensive, do you think there's still value in buying a place in LA if I can find something that's roughly zero cash flow—excluding tax benefits, and assuming I'm paying $1,500-$1,800 in "rent" for my unit in the building?
