@Charlotte AdamsIn no way I know anything about Canadian real estate and applicable law  but I have experience in getting SFH zoned as a duplex in Philadelphia, PA.It was a long process but I did everything myself.

Hi Izabella, My company provides online applications for independent landlords and we do require credit card information for the sole purpose of the tenant paying an application fee.

Looks like you have some rental experience so I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know but I'll say it anyway:   Having a paying renter is great, but I'd get the application they filled out and do a background check yourself.
