Wow, a grand, it's usually boilerplate might take 5 minutes to find it, 5 minutes to print it, 10 minutes to fill it in, 10 minutes to sign it, 2 minutes to notarize it and maybe $2 to mail it to the Recorder of Deeds or you could take it there and file it.

Lastly, form 1099 printed from the IRS website CANNOT be used so you must get the pre-printed forms somewhere; I go directly to the nearby IRS field office since it is less than 1/2 hour from me; you can also request blanks from the IRS and they will send them to you for free if you are willing to wait for the forms to come.

You have to prove that you did in fact try to rent the apartment ie show ad clippings from the news paper, printed craigslist ads that show the date of the posting, show the list of apartment showings you had, etc.
