I found later that Mark Walters and MW had no Certificate of Liability on file for their Company or record of liability insurance for the Contractor they had contracted with to do the work on my house.

-Get a copy of their insurance certificate.

College can be the way to go if you want to eventually get a RE Certificate or degree - I am pursuing that myself and a bit annoyed that I have to retake so many courses I've already completed (because the college won't accept the accreditation from prior coursework - ah well, it's easy review).

Owners / Landlords are required to complete a course given by local police departments and to keep up this certificate with continued rental license applications.

If you are serious I would recommend taking Cornell's online certificate course on Hotel REI and Asset Management.https://www.ecornell.com/certificates/hospitality-...I have taken these courses and they are demanding and rewarding.  

I don't know of any account that you are speaking of outside of certificates of deposit that would be at 1+ year terms.I would continue to invest.

I've spoken to a real estate attorney about this and its a fairly cut and dry process, but the one thing holding me up is that I need to produce a death certificate on the original deed holder. 

Maybe send them tickets to a show or a gift certificate for a massage and explain what your looking to do.
