It would be impossible to eliminate these industries to make way for the flat tax... probably just as difficult as eliminating private for-profit medical insurers to make way for true universal health care.

@Jack SeidenGrocery stores don’t have to provide food for people who can’t or won’t pay; transportation services don’t have to provide rides for people laid off who can’t afford rides; doctors don’t have to provide medical services for uninsured who can’t pay; but property owners have to provide housing, and sometimes utilities for tenants who don’t pay.

I have a number of doctors in my market that are some of the major landlords of single-family and small, multi-family rentals that I can only imagine are squandering away money and opportunity.Then there are others that are wowed by what they see on HGTV and decide to try their hand at it only to get punished.
