Heating systems, refrigerators, stoves, water heaters cost the same whether the house is a $30k dive or a $250k middle-class home.

It really depends on how the property is wired, heated, and plumbed.

When tenants have "free" utilities they somehow think it's a good idea to crank the heat to 85 with 3 windows open in January and fill all their neighbor's swimming pools with the garden house.

The good thing is that the market isn't getting softer, it is a decent bet that by spring/ summer the market will heat up again.
