For an extra $xx/month, to have someone come in and clean the common areas, bathrooms, vacuum, etc would have been something great added - especially if it was cheap split between a few roommates.

I'm a young professional and currently live very close to the Loop with roommates, so if they moved with me it would probably need to be relatively close to the Loop.

If you can get a duplex, rent one side and get room mates then you cash flow till you move on.

Get roommates you like and live there so you can keep an eye on your investment.

My roommate and I are partners and we were very successful in our first 4 months of rentals and decided to start our own team together.

Get a room mate for $500-$600  and you practically live for free.  

If you can find yourself a roommate (or two) you can call it a house hack and start saving some money!  

Additionally, if you have roommates or are able to do home improvements you will be able to dramatically reduce your cost of living while building equity.
