At this time, I believe this to be a wash, and dangerous, as most taxpayers will spend the advance payments, not knowing that the advanced payments reduce their refund / increase their tax due on the 2021 returns via their 2021 child tax credit.Beefed up dependent care expense credit -- 2021 return.Changes to the premium tax credit -- including forgiveness of excess credit repayment on the 2020 returns (yes, the current returns we're working on). 

Is there still plenty of money to be made STRing a 650K 3bedroom premium cabin (log cabin build, wood everywhere/minimal sheetrock, hot tub, very nice)?

Paid utilities are something you want to advertise and it allows you to charge a premium over places that have utility expense.The other factor is efficiency.

Example- Florida has flood and hurricane issues which insurance premiums can run high.

Do I pay the premium here and house hack?

People can edit paystubs but you should be able to trace the amounts on their application to the pay stub to the bank statement.
