Here's my experience with them so far:After hearing the guy on the Clayton Morris podcast, I understood what the model was, and appreciated how upfront and un-salespitch-y the explanation was.

We simply prefer to be very upfront with lenders on any issues they need to be aware of and prevent an investor from having one expectation and getting another.So you are correct to raise a red flag and expect an explanation on that issue.  

If I were you I would sit down with your insurance agent and get a good explanation on what policy would be best for you.
