I've used Transferwise to transfer money to my family and it went pretty smoothly. 

I have used several and have landed on Followup Boss because of the smooth user interface and powerful functionality, especially when paired with some other systems -- like Zillow paid leads, Curaytor, etc.

When you invest in a company, a person with theoretically excellent pedigree is getting paid an exorbitant amount to make sure that the company is not overleveraged, that the company has liquidity, that the company is deploying its capital appropriately, and that its operations are running smoothly. 

I had used this contractor for a couple easy jobs and everything had gone smoothly, so I convinced myself the larger rehab would go along the same lines, but the contractor had actually subcontracted the work to another person.

It appeared very smooth and flat to both me and my installers when they were bidding.

45-90 days for a final decision if things move smoothly but yes it can take much longer depending on many factors.
