Buying a multi-family and living in one of the units (house hacking), has a few benefits.

A single family wouldn’t require management if you have family in town willing to help and neither would a small multi family.

A 2,000 lawyer firm can work with the business to work on multi-state/multi-national deals.

I was looking for some insight into multi-family/ apartment building investing, in and around Holyoke, MA.

Refi with cash out seems to be a non starter because I lack the reserves required for a multi and my credit is a work in progress but improving.

We do all of the work ourselves to save money, especially in a case like this which has cost me a few bucks.  

We are fully motivated dedicated members looking to get our first deal started(looking for a multi-family currently in the Yuka valley market) that way we can house hack.

@Devin Mann  unless its a very large commercial deal  IE in the multi millions.. there is no up front money like this.. 

It seems like most everything I read or hear promotes a value-add strategy for multi family investments, regardless of the long term holding strategy (buy/hold, buy/sell, buy/refi, etc).
