Please explain because to me that seems like much more work.

My recommendation would be  to first contact your current lender and explain to them the situation, transparency is ideal and they are obligated to give you ample time to get things resolved.

Because of the extent of the install, (6 units, the 2 basements & a number of ancillary rooms), the constant meetings called by the 'explain those calcs to me again & again' bldg inspector, it took 8 months.

@Lynette Gryniak - any lender, FHA or not, will require you to explain any large deposits or abnormal transactions. 

Once you establish your objective with real estate, the answers to all of the questions start to come into focus.

However, I think that all you can ask for in exchange is getting to watch the process and asking that the thought process behind everything be explained to you.
