I am a social studies teacher and am looking to do real estate investing to build wealth and passive income- not as a full time job currently.

I have been studying real estate investing for a while now.

I am studying for an engineering degree, so I know I’m not going to be able to put a lot of time and effort into it yet, but any advice on how to begin learning and meeting people is very much appreciated (and hopefully there are others in a similar situation who could learn from this discussion, as well).

I’ve been studying multifamily analysis and proper management a lot recently, and I’m here on BP to learn more and make some connections.

I keep reading blogs, case studies, etc that are all post-deal (I.e that ship has sailed).

I agree with Gavin, get to know your target markets by studying properties for sale and for rent. 

IDK I thought I’d spent enough time studying this and was ready to go but now I’m hit with a whole set of obstacles.

When it's all said and done, I'll probably have a great case study to share with the BP group. 

Also, if you do a cost seg study on the property in your father's name and he passes, you can do another study when the property is in your name with no "recapture".
