I have been looking and researching hard money lenders just to find out there is a lot of lender who keep wanting to throw money my way (this makes me happy, I think)  I am not sure what is a good deal in hard money lending.

You want to avoid publications that have a vested interest in people wanting to buy in the market they are talking about, and you also want to avoid larger publications because it is unlikely they have fully done their research. 

I have been researching the area and am holding off on making any decisions till my friend moves to the area and can give more details.
