@David L.Many homes have separate in-law suites, there would be no difference between what you described and a home with an in-law suite.

Many times on smaller buildings I'll try to get a tenant in the building to do it, but you have to be careful to show you are actually compensating them in some way, etc.You'd also want to make sure to use a properly insured contractor for snow removal since "slip and fall" is one of the most common tenant lawsuits.
