I had no obligation to pay back anyone and the docs where tight as a tiger.But still, I had to get my investors to sign off on that they wouldn't come after me for "potential" future gains that they could have expected if my tech company one day could have become 100x and that "was their expectation" heheheCrazy, you do the right thing, pay back investors and still have to worry that some gronk will wake up one day and say "Engelo is a wanker" and chase you for a high risk "opportunity cost of what could have been" lol

The other thing is that if the house is really appreciating rapidly, if you lived there 2 years and sell within 5 you get to keep 250k of the capital gains, which probably makes better sense than keeping long term as a rental.

We also get to enjoy our place as often as we like (the slightly lower occupancy rate due to our use is also a factor in being cash flow negative) and the negative cash flow is offset easily by the equity we'd gain, even assuming only a 2% appreciation on the cabin.
