IE there are economists who believe the data point to both sides being right with no consensus.

Many economists believe we are entering into an inflationary period, however, we are already in an inflated period with real estate that is showing no signs of slowing.  

Nobody knows when the next big recession is coming BUT I have to chuckle at how everyone has become a macro-economist these days. 

I have heard numerous instances where politicians and economists have stated that it is a consumer economy and consumers need to go spend.

If we added all the deals on BP I doubt an economist would have them moving the needle much on the US economy.

Many economists predict that economic growth in China could slow to 4% as their economy continues to mature.

Journalists are not economists and they tend to have a weak grasp of what is really happening.

I'm no economist, but who's to say the 80's couldn't happen again.  

National Association of Realtors Chief Economist Lawrence Yun recently wrote an article stating that we're in a "Bizarre Market" in which he stated "With a strong economy and the lowest unemployment rate since 2000, more Americans are in the market to buy a home yet sales are stagnant.
