I had an older house with little attic insulation and the air conditioner just could not keep up in a heat wave.

It turns out what I thought was baseboard hot water heating was actually just an old style of forced air vent so there was no need for new ductwork.In the process of installing the new air conditioner (there wasn't one before) I had to open up a wall and run a new circuit outside. 

Your electric bill is higher in the summer because you are using the air conditioner.

That being said, it's just a white noise/humming sound, just like having a window air conditioner.

I was talking to my property manager in SW Florida one day and they told me they had a tenant that refused to use the air conditioner.

I would think that the rental income would be enough, but we were hit with a couple big bills for roof and air conditioner replacements over the past few years, so the numbers weren't impressive enough for the banks. 

It had been vandalized, all the appliances were gone, the two central air conditioners were gone, some of the blinds, all of the shower heads.

Current plans include: new patio, solar panels eventually, moving the pool filter/pump from the corner of the yard to the side of the house near the air conditioner to free up space. 

Depending on the age of the one you purchased air conditioner condensers refrigerators and tuckpointing seem to be the biggest expenses
