No one is going to give you cash to buy a property at auction without already having collateral as security unless you are sleeping with them or you have a rich uncle willing to just write a check for you.

I'm from omaha Nebraska and know the area these homes and apartments are located and everything you see on that show is real it's sad but it's real most of these homes are paid for by the state or housing so the property owners don't really care too much because they know it's a constant cash flow and the people living in the units don't have the credit to move to a nice place but I don't understand How they can charge almost 700 for rent in an roach/rat infested unit and be able to sleep at night 

Maybe dad sleeps on the sofa on weekends when kids visit ...Familial status is a protected class BTW.

It was boarded up with homeless sleeping in the yard and now it's pretty much the nicest house on the block.

I'd rather climb into the car at night, get a good night's sleep, and arrive at my destination (loser:  the hotel industry and AirBnB), or be able to work for the entire ride while my car drives itself.Of course, since "driver" is the single biggest job category in the US, our economy will nose-dive when autonomous vehicles take over . . .

I don't think I'd lose sleep worrying about this, but you're right, it could be an issue - and it's probably worth setting aside a few extra dollars in the unlikely event that it does come up.

I guess one advantage of being in the Dallas market is I don't have to lose sleep over this question,,without central A/C no one would touch buying or renting a house
