Personally, I like the plainest, simplest, most durable new ones I can get, usually mid to bottom, but a quality brand that holds up and good delivery (and haul away, but you don't need that)..

When I converted a house to gas a few years ago,  I kept the oil burner and I left the brand new basement tank intact and 1/5 full, figuring you never know with fuel markets.

As for interiors with out seeing them hard to tell, but outside of kitchens and baths (which can be expensive but do have the biggest positive impact on prospective tenants) we have found that fresh paint and new flooring makes a huge difference.
